Training Material
The aim of the training material in the Foundation Level including Child Development, Learning Environment and Professional Development for children 0 – 7 years is to equip learners with the knowledge and skills to support children's individual learning and development.
| Learners will be able to demonstrate: |
- Caring skills
- A basic knowledge of child development and the curriculum
- How to build effective working relationships with parents and colleagues
- An awareness of how the individual and their family's needs and circumstances affects the child's learning and development
- Knowledge of child protection procedures
- A basic knowledge of relevant childcare legislation

| The ECQ training material includes: |
- Trainer file with teaching plans, trainer notes, resources lists, worksheets and handouts
- Learner file with workshop programmes, worksheets, tasks and handouts
- Workshop Logbook which enables the learner to reflect on the workshop attended and how their practice might change after the training

The ECQ material encourages a holistic approach to training and learners are assessed on their Workshop Logbook and practical tasks. |
